Buxton is a spa town in Derbyshire and is described as "the gateway to the Peak District National Park". Buxton is home to Poole's Cavern, an extensive limestone cavern open to the public, and St Ann's Well, fed by the geothermal spring bottled and sold internationally by Buxton Mineral Water Company. The spring at St Ann's well was probably a place of pilgrimage as early as the Middle Ages, but certainly by Tudor times it was fairly well established as a spa and in Elizabeth I's time it was visited for this purpose by The Earl of Leicester, Lord Burghley and no less than Mary Queen of Scots, who was being held captive by the Earl of Shrewsbury and his wife Bess of Hardwick at nearby Chatsworth.

BAKEWELL - 'ancient capital of the Peak...'
Set in an enviable location on the banks of the Wye, with the river meandering gently through the centre, this beautiful old market town is in the heart of the Peak District, surrounded by stunning countryside views. Famous for its
Puddings, Annual events and for receiving royal charter as a market town in 1330, markets are still held every Monday in the town centre and there is a thriving livestock market.  The town has a long and fascinating history; mentioned in the Domes Day Book of 1085,`Badequella’ meaning Bath-well.

Loveden Tours' Lunch Club

Now in its second year.

As our regular customers will agree, we like to listen and respond to our customers needs. We know there is a current decline in member numbers for clubs and societies, so we aim to help smaller groups to still enjoy short excursions, with a meal stop, time to relax and chat in scenic areas and other places of interest.

We are often asked for ideas of places to eat, and with our love of Lincolnshire and its produce we have put a programme of venues together. Not only could you be enjoying the company of a small group of friends, but there is always opportunity to enjoy lunch, with an hour to look around.

We hope that by offering these trips we can enable you to get out and about in Lincolnshire no matter how small the group, and who knows, maybe meet like-minded friends from other areas.

So if you have ideas for a venue please let us know, and we will do our best to incorporate it in the future. The same goes for other groups/clubs that may be struggling to fill buses and therefore may end up missing out on trips altogether. Get them to contact us, and we will do our best to keep them informed of Loveden Tours’ Lunch Club programme.

The Lunch club will comtinue to meet on the 1st Wednesday of the month.

We have set our next date as the 7th March 2012.
